Lady Rose

Justice of the Supreme Court, The Right Hon Lady Rose of Colmworth

Lady Rose started practising as a barrister in London in 1984 specialising in domestic and European Union anti-trust law. After ten years in private practice, she joined the Government Legal Service as an advisory lawyer in central Government. She worked for 5 years in HM Treasury on financial services regulation, then in the Ministry of Defence during the 2003 Iraq war and finally in the Office of Speaker to the House of Commons. She was appointed to a number of part time judicial roles and then in 2013 joined the High Court as a full time Judge in the Business and Property Courts. She was promoted to the Court of Appeal in 2019 and then to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 2021 where she sits today.


 

Lord Justice Birss 

Colin Birss is a judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales and Deputy Head of Civil Justice.  He was called to the English Bar in 1990 and practiced in intellectual property law, taking silk in 2008.  In 2010 Colin Birss went on the bench, first as judge of the Patents County Court (now IPEC) and then, in 2013, to the High Court.  In 2019 he became Judge in Charge of the Patents Court and in 2021 was appointed to his current roles.


Dr John Taggart

 

 

Dr John Taggart is a Lecturer in Law at Queens' University, Belfast and the Director of the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice (ICCJ). John has a background in legal practice and was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 2013 and Lincoln’s Inn (England and Wales) in 2015.He holds a PhD in Law from the London School of Economics (LSE) and is a member of the Inn of Court of Northern Ireland and a member of Lincoln's Inn. His expertise lies in the effective participation of witnesses in the legal process and the securing of best evidence. Specialising in witness familiarisation and preparation, John advises and trains global law firms, international governments and various training institutes.
