Training and Events Terms and Conditions

  • Cancellations received more than 50 business days prior to the event – A full refund will be given.
  • Cancellations received 26 -50 business days prior to the event – A 75% refund will be given.
  • Cancellations received 16-25 business days prior to the event – A 50% refund will be given.
  • Cancellations received less than 15 business days prior to the event – no refund will be given.

Please note, any delegates who do not attend on the day will not receive a refund.  Access to the event will be denied if payment in advance has not been made.

The EWI reserve the right to cancel any event with a minimum of 3 business days’ notice and will provide a full refund to delegates.

Online Events    ​In-person Events

Online Events

Online events are defined as virtual or non -physical events.

Access to online events

Participants (members and non-members) who register for online events will have access to event materials after the event. Participants are not permitted to share their username and password details with any other person(s) (including for the avoidance of doubt, any colleague, employee, partner, director, or representative of the participant of your company).

Access to event material

Access to event material including recordings and presentations post event is granted to the participant only and participants are not permitted to share their online access credentials with any other person(s) as outlined above. Post-event materials are available to the participant for viewing only and cannot be downloaded.  This is also applicable to recordings available for purchase via our web shop.

Evaluation & CPD Certificates 

As part of our commitment to CPD we require participants (members and non-members) to complete an evaluation of the online training and event they attended to access their CPD Certificate.  

Transfer of booking

If notice is given 2 business days prior to an online event, EWI will offer the participant the opportunity to transfer the booking of an online event to another person(s).  The new participant (only) will also have access to the online event and event materials.  EWI will not allow a booking for an online event to be transferred to another person(s) as a result of a request to cancel outside of the cancellation period or due to non-attendance.

Photography & Filming

Please be advised that when you attend an online event, you are entering a digital platform where audio and video recording may occur for education, marketing, and promotional purposes by the EWI and affiliate organisations online.  By attending an event you hereby acknowledge and agree to such recordings being made.

Code of Conduct

The Expert Witness Institute (EWI) is committed to providing an inclusive, safe and harassment free virtual space for participants (members and non-members) and speakers regardless of disability, race, gender identity, religion and any protected characteristics as outlined in The Equality Act 2010.   

The EWI does not tolerate harassment and discrimination in any form, this includes but is not limited to: 

  • offensive or discriminatory verbal, written or visual images related to sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity any protected characteristics as outlined in The Equality Act 2010.   

  • inappropriate disruption of training and events. 

  • photographs, screenshots or livestream of the online event is not permitted. 

The EWI expects all participants, speakers and EWI employees to agree with our code of conduct and behaviour in a respectful and considerate manner.  If you witness or experience harassment, please notify us via events@ewi.org.uk immediately so that the issue can be investigated and if necessary, steps can be taken to remove the participant(s).  

In-person events

Age restrictions

EWI in-person events do not accommodate under 18s.  

Photography & Filming

From time to time the EWI or other authorised third parties (such as press) may carry out photography and/or other recording at EWI Events and Training and images and/or recordings may feature visitors. You consent to the use of such images and/or recordings by us in connection with advertising, promoting the EWI (such as on the EWI website, social media sites and pages, partner sites, outdoor advertising and brochures for the EWI), and for our internal purposes, and in doing so, you allow us to edit, modify, publish and make available such images and/or recordings. You acknowledge and agree that you will not receive compensation if we use such images and/or recordings for the purposes set out above. If any visitors to EWI events are under 18, you, being the parent or legal guardian of such persons, also consent to the use of their image and/or recordings for the purposes set out above. You acknowledge that the copyright in such images and/or recordings rests with us and/or any authorised third party and accordingly you grant us and/or any authorised third party all rights in any images and/or recordings of you and/or your children. You shall promptly execute such documents and perform such acts as may be required for the purposes of giving full effect to the foregoing. The taking of photographs with handheld cameras is only allowed with prior permission. Video recording as well as the use of flashes, tripods and other specialist photographic equipment is not permitted. Photographs are for you to enjoy for your own personal, private, non-commercial purposes only. Unless permission has been granted by us, picture and images cannot be reproduced in any format or media other than for private viewing.

  • unwanted physical contact, violence, sexual attention or innuendo or intimidation.  Possession or consumption of illegal substances and any behaviour or action that may be deemed unlawful.  

  • excessive or irresponsible consumption of alcohol that risks safety or contributes to behaviour that breaches the code of conduct.  

  • failure to adhere to the rules or regulations of the venue including smoking in non-designated areas.
