Medical Defence Union raises serious concerns about GP Indemnity Insurance

A recent report on GPOnline highlights their concerns; in particular information sharing and indemnity cover.

 

They highlight that NHS Resolution could use information they have been provided with to refer GPs to bodies such as the GMC or NHS England without warning or the opportunity to comment.

 

In addition they highlight the fact that although state-backed indemnity covers incidents from 1 April 2019 onwards for all GPs in England, it only covers events before 1 April for Medical Protection (MPS) members.
