10 June 2022 Priya Vaidya 2580 Case Updates Tredget v R [2022] EWCA Crim 108 byPriya Vaidya The case: On 20 January 1981 the appellant (now aged 61) pleaded guilty to 11 counts of arson and 26 counts of manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility. On the same day, he was sentenced to detention without limitation of time at Park Lane Hospital, under sections 60 and 65 of the Mental Health Act 1959.
